The Critical Journey

Ever wonder why your spiritual life doesn’t always feel “up and to the right”? In this season of Practicing the Practices, Brad and Casey introduce The Critical Journey — a framework for spiritual growth that explains the stages of faith, why you sometimes feel stuck, and how God is inviting you into a deeper walk with Him.

The Critical Journey describes the spiritual life as a series of recognizable stages through which faith matures—often moving from certainty and activity into questioning, disillusionment, and ultimately a deeper, more resilient trust in God. This journey includes “the Wall” - a pivotal season where old frameworks no longer work and transformation requires surrender rather than effort. This podcast season is based on the framework articulated in The Critical Journey by Janet Hagberg and Robert Guelich, offering language and hope for seasons of faith that feel confusing but are deeply formative.
